Power Spam is the Defect’s most entertaining build — it turns every fight into a fireworks display. Each Power you play triggers Storm (channel Lightning), Heat Sinks (draw cards), and Mummified Hand (discounts). By turn 5 you have 10+ orbs, a hand full of free cards, and the enemy is getting Zapped by passive Lightning every second.

Build Overview

The engine is self-reinforcing: play Powers → Powers trigger effects → effects let you play more Powers. Storm is the payoff, converting each Power into a Lightning orb. Heat Sinks is the fuel, converting each Power into card draw. Together they create infinite Loops where every card you play leads to another.

Creative AI is the centerpiece — it generates a random Power every turn, guaranteeing you’ll never run out of gas.

Strategy

Play Creative AI first — it generates a free Power every turn. Storm channels Lightning each time you play a Power. Heat Sinks draws whenever you play a Power. The three cards form an engine: Power → channel Lightning → draw another Power → repeat. Amplify doubles your best Powers. By turn 6 you should have full orb slots and a hand full of 0-cost cards from Mummified Hand discounts.

Core Cards

Creative AI — Generate a random Power card at the start of each turn. This card alone can win runs. The random Power pool includes everything from Defragment to Echo Form. Costs 3 — your priority upgrade target.

Storm — Whenever you play a Power, channel 1 Lightning orb. In a Power-heavy deck this fills your orb slots in 2-3 turns. Upgrade for Innate (starts in your opening hand).

Heat Sinks — Whenever you play a Power, draw 1 card. Turns every Power into a cantrip. With enough Powers you’ll draw through your entire deck every turn. Upgrade for 2 card draw per Power.

Amplify — Your next Power card is played twice. Double Creative AI or double Echo Form — the value is absurd. Costs 1 to play and is itself a Power, so it triggers Storm and Heat Sinks.

Hello World — At the start of each turn, add a random common card to your hand. It’s not a Power itself after playing, but it’s cheap, fills your hand, and the random cards get discounted by Mummified Hand.

Echo Form — The first card you play each turn is played twice. Costs 3, Ethereal. The ultimate Power payoff — double Storm triggers, double Lightning channels, double everything.

Key Relics

Mummified Hand — Whenever you play a Power, a random card in your hand costs 0 this turn. This is the build’s acceleration pedal. After 3-4 Powers, your entire hand is free.

Bird-Faced Urn — Whenever you play a Power, heal 2 HP. In a deck playing 5+ Powers per fight, that’s 10+ HP healed every combat. Free sustain.

Frozen Egg — Powers are always upgraded when you add them to your deck. Creative AI generates random upgraded Powers. Double value.

Data Disk — +1 Focus at combat start. All those Lightning orbs you’re channeling with Storm hit harder from turn 1.

Symbiotic Virus — The first Power each combat is played twice. Lead with Creative AI or Echo Form for an explosive start.

Act Strategy

Act 1

Goal: Survive. Storm is the earliest Power payoff worth committing to.

Pick priority: Ball Lightning > Cold Snap > Storm > Coolheaded > Sweeping Beam > Charge Battery.

Storm is the signal to commit. Without it, draft standard orb cards and wait.

Act 2

Goal: Add Creative AI or Heat Sinks. Your Power count should be 6+ by the boss.

Pick priority: Creative AI > Heat Sinks > Echo Form > Amplify > Defragment > Capacitor.

Once you have Storm + Creative AI, the build is online. Prioritize upgrading Creative AI to 2 cost.

Act 3

Goal: Add Echo Form and more draw. The deck should play 3-4 Powers by turn 3.

Pick priority: Echo Form > Seek > Reboot > Amplify > Buffer.

Seek finds Creative AI on turn 1. Reboot resets your hand when it’s full of 0-cost cards you want to play.

Common Pitfalls

Powers without Storm — A deck with 8 Powers and no Storm is just a slow orb deck. Storm is the payoff that makes the Power density worth it.

Overshooting slot capacityStorm channels Lightning for every Power. If you have 3 orb slots and play 5 Powers, you’ll evict your Frost orbs. Get Capacitor or Data Disk.

Heat Sinks before Power density — Heat Sinks with 3 Powers draws 3 cards over a fight. That’s a bad deal. Wait until you have 6+ Powers or you’re wasting a card slot.

Creative AI at 3 cost — Upgrading Creative AI from 3 to 2 cost is one of the highest-impact upgrades in the game. Do it before anything else.
